It is finally that time of year again, when everyone snuggles up in comfortable blankets and sits by the fire with hot cocoa in one hand and a frosted sugar cookie in the other. If you are looking for something new to try during this glorious time (other than packing in as much Netflix as you can during winter break), then I highly recommend you keep reading.
The 29th annual Silver Bells in the City event will be happening this Friday, November 22nd, from 5-9pm in downtown Lansing. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the event, it is one of the most widely popular public events in Lansing during the Holiday season.
Throughout the night, there will be a parade with representatives from many of Michigan and Lansing’s most popular businesses (CATA, GM, etc.), followed by early holiday shopping in the village and the receiving of this year’s commemorative ornament (pictured on the right). Additionally, there will be a Fun Run starting at 5pm, singing and dancing with Radio Disney at the same time, and the lighting of the official state Christmas tree at the Capitol building at approximately 7:20pm. Fireworks will follow (weather permitting). A further schedule of events can be found on the official Silver Bells website here. You can also check out the video at the top of this post for more information on Silver Bells.
This is one event that you really don’t want to miss! It is fun for the whole family, and it is an excellent opportunity to get into the Holiday spirit while enjoying the charisma of downtown Lansing. It is especially recommended if you have never travelled through Lansing before, since it is a widely popular tradition of the city. I didn’t get to go last year, sadly, but this year I plan to be there in the crowd.
Once again, this event will be this Friday, November 22nd, from 5-9pm. Don’t forget to check out their website for more information. Happy Silver Bells!
