My name is Sarah, and I am one of the latest noobz to join forces with the Creativity Exploratory. I’m super excited to be here! I am a junior studying Studio Art and the Arts & Humanities. I have a passion for people, painting, and puppies.
I was born and raised on the west side of the Mitten state in Grand Rapids. As much as I love my home state, after college I’d like to head to the west coast or abroad. I have done a fair amount of traveling in my 20 years of life, making it to 10 different countries thus far. I cannot get enough of new places, people, and cultures.
I am a very dichotomous person, being extremely social and witty on one end, and fairly quiet and reflective on the other—I blame it on the fact that I’m a Gemini. I love to think deeply and discuss the taboo to discover the infinite perspectives we complex beings have. I also really enjoy good coffee, anything Hello Kitty, elephants, lipstick, and a good pair of socks. Someday, I hope to have my own art studio, and a house with a library.
I love to learn. The potential to do so while doing meaningful work with other creative souls is what drew me to the CE. Being an artist that utilizes hands-on mediums, I am very eager to become more competent in various creative software. I’m also generally excited about the opportunity to gain experience and develop myself professionally.
I am very interested in community arts, and come from a background of collaborative art making with all sorts of people, many of them non-artists. I believe that everyone has creative potential and that anyone can make art with practice. It is this belief that underpins my desire to investigate and raise awareness about the slashing of arts education in the Lansing Public School District. I’m very much looking forward to my time here with the CE and can’t wait to see what comes!
