Hello everyone! My name is Drew, and I’m one of the new fellows here at the Creativity Exploratory. I work with the CE as the Event Coordinator. That means I organize, advertise, and support workshops and events here at the CE. I first heard about this space because one of my friends (and now co-worker) encouraged me to apply. I learned that this was a space for College of Arts and Letter’s students to innovate, create, and develop their skills outside of the classroom and immediately I applied. I’m very excited to work with the people here and to be involved with the
various projects floating around the third floor of Linton Hall.
I’m in my fourth year at Michigan State, studying English/Secondary Education with a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I started as a Journalism major, but then I realized that literature was my actual passion. So, I floated around Morrill Hall for a little while, enjoying my classes, but generally unsure of how I could use my English degree until I took English 302: Intro the English Language with the erudite Marilyn Wilson. In this class I realized that I have a love for linguistics in addition to literature, but that I genuinely enjoy teaching. It was then that I applied to the College of Education and picked up my minor in TESOL.
A little about myself, I enjoy biking, being outdoors, grammar, traveling, reading, writing, cooking, and the occasional video game. I also love music, whether it is listening to music, playing music with others, or getting out to see live music. Another one of my greatest passions is languages and linguistics. When I’m not at the CE, my other job is tutoring international students and helping them with their English. With the CE I’m hoping to start a project involving the rich linguistic diversity at MSU.
Thank you for reading about me, and if you can make it to some of our events, I’m sure I’ll see you around!
