Hello, I'm Anna

I’m a new fellow at the Creativity Exploratory.  To be totally honest, I wasn’t aware that the Creativity Exploratory existed six months ago.  This might lead you to wonder just how I ended up working here.  Well, to make a long story short, I took a field trip with a class to the CE where I was introduced to the space and some of the fellows who told me about a really cool job that I could apply for.

To make a long story a little less short, I wanted to do everything when I came to college in the Fall of 2011.  I applied as No Preference, entered as James Madison, switched to Horticulture, then enjoyed a brief time in Interdisciplinary Humanities all before finally reaching the Professional Writing major that I now love.  I worked as a cook in the cafeteria and a research assistant in a lab that studied nematodes where I decided that it would be nice to have a job where I didn’t have to defend soybean plants from the forces of hungry cockroaches of the MSU greenhouses and even nicer to be working on something that I actually enjoyed.

What I really enjoy is creating—drawing, painting, sewing, writing, designing and putting together whatever I can get my hands on.  So when I heard about this fellowship at the CE, which allowed me to do all of this and still pursue my “I want to do everything” interests, I knew I had to apply.

This semester I’ll be working as Communications Manager at the CE, taking care of everything from newsletters, to tweets, to Facebook posts.  I’m also very excited to use the space to start some projects of my own,

including the development of new ideas for sustainability on campus.

I’d love to see lots of new faces this semester, so come on over to the CE and say “hey!”
